Baldoon Castle – Haunted Scotland Castles

Baldoon Castle was built in the early 1500s and owned by the Dunbar family. In the early 1600s a young women was forced to marry the sun of Baldoon Castle even though she was in love in another man. She went crazy and stabbed her groom on her wedding night in the castle. It is said that shrieks were heard from outside the door. This crazed bride never recovered and died shortly after; while her groom recovered from his injuries and went on to marry again. Legend has it that the crazed bride can be seen with blood stained clothes roaming the castle ruins.

You can visit the ruins of Baldoon Castle Bladnoch near Wigtown, Wigtownshir in Dumfries and Galloway.

If you visit Baldoon Castle now on your Scotland vacations you will see ruins of a castle covered in vines on the edge of a quant town.

Ackergill Tower – Haunted Scotland Castles

Ackergill Tower has such a violent past. Originally built in the early 1400s by Clan Keith this Scotland castle has changed hands numerous times. Over its lifetime it was taken by force by Clan Sinclair then taken back by Clan Keith. Later the tower was given to Lord Opiphant then taken again by force by a Kieth then given back to the lord. Then another Kieth to the castle back. Even later it was purchased by the Sinclairs and then taken by Sir Robert Gorden. The castles changes hands a few more times before being purchased and renovated by the Dunbars. 

Ackergill Tower is said to be haunted by a young Helen Gunn who was kidnapped by the Keiths and chose to throw herself from the battlements instead of staying with the Keiths.

You will find Ackergill Tower located in Caithness in the far north and on the edge of the sea.

This Scotland Castle should have been placed in the castle hotels list because this castle can be rented for your company retreat or a large family gathering. There are 25 unique rooms in all.

Located on the edge of a small Scottish village called St. Madoes that is not to far from Perth.

Castle Levan dates back to the late 14th century when a tower was built, and then another was added to complete its typical Scottish L-plan in the 15th century. In the 1980s this Scotland castle was restored and won an award for being the best domestic restoration in Inverclyde in the late 80s.
