Huntingtower Castle – Haunted Scotland Castles

Posted on August 25th, 2010 by admin in Scotland Castles | No Comments »

This is an old Scotland Castle that was for most of its history owned by the Ruthven family and then the Murray’s. Both Mary Queen of Scots and her son James VI visited Huntingtower. The 4th Lord Ruthven kidnapped King James the VI at the age of 15 and kept him in the castle for a year. The ghost here is called “Our Lady Greensleaves” and tends to appear before a death, but has also been known to heal the sick.

If you are visiting Perth on your Scotland vacations than you should go see Huntingtower Castle as it is just west of it in Perthshire.

Now you can visit and tour this castle, but it is mostly just a shell of a building. This castle is standing, but it isn’t renovated and turned into a museum or hotel like other castles. There is a lot to see and the grounds are interesting.
